A Simple Plan for Cleaning Out the Attic
Do you have some extra time on your hands right now because of what’s going on in the world today? If so, then you may consider putting some of that time towards some household projects that you have been putting off for the longest time …more specifically, cleaning out that attic. That’s right, it’s time for you to officially start cleaning out the attic, but first, we’d like to introduce you to a simple plan that can help you.
Before you start cleaning out that attic, you need a plan. When you have a plan, it can make decluttering
that attic area a whole lot easier (and faster) for you. Without a well-defined plan, your results aren’t going to be that great.
Remove Everything from the Attic
The attic isn’t exactly the most comfortable place in your home, so you may want to take everything from the attic and put it into another room and this is where the decluttering is going to take place. We recommend this because organizing stuff in the attic can be complicated when you’re having to hunch over to move around. Go ahead and remove everything from the attic and put it in another room in your home so that you can sort things out.
The Sorting Process
During the sorting process, only keep the things you “need” and memories. Toss out the things that you can see yourself living without. Now, this may involve going through each piece one by one and asking yourself if you can live without the item. Chances are, since it’s already up in the attic, away from your living quarters, you can do without it.
Temporary Dumpster Rentals
Once you have tossed everything to the side, chances are, it’s going to be too much stuff for you to set on the street corner, and you probably won’t be able to fit it all in the trunk of your car. During this time, you should look into temporary dumpster rentals
Temporary dumpster rentals are great for getting rid of trash, old furniture, construction debris, household junk, and other items you may need to toss out. However, when you rent a dumpster, you cannot toss out any hazardous material.
For temporary dumpster rentals, you can choose dumpsters that come in different sizes – some of the dumpsters can hold as much as 12 pickup truck loads
, while others will only hold up to 3 pickup truck loads of trash.
Deep Clean Your Attic While it’s Empty
Once you have everything out of the attic and you have a temporary dumpster rental scheduled, you should deep clean your attic. We don’t mean just going up there and sweeping, we mean taking your cleaning to the limit – use a vacuum cleaner so you can trap all of that dust.
This is also a great opportunity for you to check your attic
over and make sure it is in top condition. Check for mold, pests, and damages.
Just remember, your temporary dumpster rental is scheduled to arrive soon, and you should make the most of it because you aren’t going to have that dumpster in your driveway forever. So, you may want to clean other rooms in your home while you have the dumpster in your driveway.
